Hi! So, I've not really touched this website for years. It's fallen into disrepair and it would be irresponsible of me to pretend I'll ever have time to work on it again.

So, I'm going to mothball the site/set it to read-only. I've disabled the login links because they stopped working any I don't remember enough about how the site works to figure out how to fix them.

If any thing *really* needs updating (deadnaming-level stuff), let me know and I'll go in on the backend and make changes.

Larp: Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai

A Gathering of a Hundred Weird Tales

Summary

Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai, or A Gathering of a Hundred Weird Tales is a theatrical storytelling game.

It’s summer in Edo-era Japan– the perfect time to tell ghost stories– and a group of itinerant storytellers have come to town, in order to help the players tell the story of the Fisherman, his Wife, and the Yokai (demons) and Yurei (ghosts) they meet when they are apart; and how they reconcile their associations with the Yokai when the Fisherman returns home. When the Fishermen and Wives reunite, one of them may not be what they seem...

Description

This is a freeform LARP where players are both the actors and audience. It is inspired by kabuki theatre, bunraku, ukiyo-e and shunga art (especially Hokusai’s Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife), and the game Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai. Additionally, we will use dramatic elements and mannerisms inspired by kabuki and noh drama, integrate selected music into the structure, and employ props and (optional) costumes.
